Setup chambre d鈥檋otes to get a carte vitale?

My wife and I work part-time for a UK company. I work from home and in the UK, my wife currently works almost exclusively from home. We pay UK tax via PAYE on our salaries. We have been advised that setting up as an auto-entrepreneur to run a chambre d’hotes is the only way to obtain a carte vitale. If this is the case, do we both need to register as auto-entrepreneurs to obtain our cartes vitale?
