Can I start start a business in France and also receive chomage?

I have registered at the P么le Emploi in France and am waiting for some attestations (from another country where I worked) before I receive chomage allocations. Whilst looking for a new job, I would like to work for someone for approximately two days a week on an auto-entrepreneur basis.
My chomage will be much more than I will receive for this part-time work. Can I be both receiving chomage and registered as an auto-entrepreneur business in France? I know that the chomage is topped up if I work as an employee with a Contrat de travail 脿 dur茅e d茅termin茅e (CDD) or Contrat 脿 dur茅e ind茅termin茅e (CDI) - is this also the case as an auto-entrepreneur?
